It’s been over a month since I’ve written a new entry for this newsletter. It’s not that I didn’t want to write - in fact, my drafts folder is littered with half-written thoughts on THE SUBSTANCE or SATURDAY NIGHT, the only two new release films I’ve been able to see in a theater since September. You must understand, though, I’ve been busy.
Lucía and I got married on Sunday, November 10. It was an amazing day and I was in tears before the ceremony even began. For now, I want to keep my specific thoughts about the day for Lucía and myself. That said, I did want to share a special project Lucía and I put together for our wedding.
I joked with Lucía last night that I have been working on WHERE WOLF 2 longer than the two of us have been a couple and now we’re married but WHERE WOLF 2 is still three chapters and at least four months away from being finished. Despite this, I now officially have another comic book under my belt!
Lucía did the lion’s share of work when it came to planning the aesthetic of the wedding - even embroidering her own veil. One project I wanted to own, though, was the wedding program. I wanted to make a comic book that detailed Lucía and my story.
We sat down one night and wrote the script together. I asked Nico Rodriguez, a Houston-based comic book writer and artist who Lucía and I met while on the WHERE WOLF convention circuit, to do the art. Jack Morelli, my friend and WHERE WOLF collaborator, kindly agreed to take time away from his busy schedule to provide the lettering.
So, presenting to you, my friends, THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF LUCÍA & ROB:
Another newsletter next week - I promise!
Congratulations! So happy for you both!
